Why Should We Pray

Encountering God through prayer.

Prayer is basically communicating with God and anyone can do it! We don’t have to use big fancy words to pray, nor be in a church building because prayer is simply talking to God and listening to God.

When we pray (whether with words or silently) we become aware of God’s presence with us. We can give God our thanks and praise, ask for forgiveness and tell Him of our needs, hopes and dreams. But it’s not just a one-way conversation. We can listen to God’s voice too (using the Bible as our guide), to help us understand His plans and purposes for us as individuals and as a community.

To live as 24-7 followers of Jesus, we endeavour to seek God through prayer in our daily lives. However, prayer is at the heart of a Christian community and so we also make time to pray together. We pray in our Small Groups, during Sunday services and also during our prayer gathering in the week. All are welcome to join us in the chapel on:

Tuesdays 9-9:45 am

Because prayer is just so important GilI thought it may be useful to share with you, especially our intercessors on a Sunday and our prayer warriors who are confined to their homes much of the time, topics for prayer, which should ALWAYS be lifted up before God.

Our Prime Minister and Government. (1Timothy 2:1-3)

Israel (Psalm 122:6-8)

Salvation of family, friends & community (2Peter 3:9, John 6:44)

The practical needs of the world. Use news broadcasts on TV for prayer information.

The Church. The Book of Acts through to the Letter to Jude give us a basis to pray for the Church e.g. the church would bear spiritual fruit, make real disciples, full of good works, integrity, knowledge of God and the love of God

Spiritual Leaders. Spiritual leaders live under a lot of spiritual pressure & are a focal point of attacks by the by the devil. We must cover our spiritual leaders with a prayer shield.

The sick and suffering. (Isaiah 53:4-5, James 5:14-16)

Ourselves & our families. Regularly bless your family, (Numbers 6:24-26) pray for spiritual growth and a holy life, daily thank the Lord for family.

Sunday Mornings

Whether you have been following Jesus for years or are just interested in finding out more, you are welcome to join us on a Sunday morning. There is room for everyone in God’s Family whatever your age or background. We believe everyone is loved and valued by God and so seek to be welcoming to all.

We meet at 10am and the service lasts between an hour and an hour and twenty minutes. The services vary each week…

Alternate Worship Service (1st Sunday of the month)
This service is led by one of our Fellowship Groups, with time to pray, praise songs and a talk on part of the Bible. There is a group for children and young people during the service.

Holy Communion (2nd Sunday)
This is a more formal service where we use bread and wine to remember God’s love for us through Jesus’ death and resurrection. There are groups for children and young people during the service.

Morning Praise (3rd & 4th Sunday)
This is a fairly informal service with time to pray, plenty of praise songs and a talk on part of the Bible. There is a group for children and young people during the service.

Renewal & Healing (5th Sunday)
This is an informal service where there is an emphasis on seeking God’s presence and praying for God to powerfully touch and transform our lives. There is a group for children and young people during the service.

After each service we spend time together over a tea and coffee in the lower hall. Cakes are also on sale, with money raised going to charity.
